Regional exclusive Pokémon are tradeable in Pokémon GO, and trading is the main way most players complete their regional dex without travelling the world. However, there are some important rules and costs to be aware of.

When does a regional trade count as a Special Trade?

If the regional Pokémon is not already registered in your Pokédex, the trade counts as a Special Trade. This means it costs significantly more Stardust and is limited to one per day.

If you already have that regional registered (you've caught or traded one before), subsequent trades of the same Pokémon count as a standard trade — much cheaper.
