How raids work

Raids happen at PokéStops and Gyms in five tiers: 1-star (solo-able), 3-star (solo-able for strong teams), 5-star legendaries (group recommended), Mega Raids (group recommended), and Elite Raids (rare, timed, requires local coordination).

5-star and legendary raids

5-star raids rotate every one to two weeks. Each legendary has a chance of being shiny — some are much rarer than others and only return once or twice a year. If you're missing a current legendary, prioritise it before the rotation ends.

Mega raids

Mega Raids reward Mega Energy for the featured Pokémon. Completing enough Mega Raids of a Pokémon unlocks permanent Mega Evolution access without needing more energy. Prioritise Mega Pokémon you haven't fully unlocked yet.
